Spiral Galaxy Priority Mail Stamp
The U.S. Postal Service honors the wonders of deep space with a striking Priority Mail stamp featuring spiral galaxy NGC 628, located 32 million light-years from Earth.
Captured by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope in 2022, this image reveals swirling arms of red and orange gas and dust offering scientists new insights into star formation and the evolution of galaxies across the universe.
Studying galaxies like NGC 628 helps researchers understand how stars are born, how galaxies grow, and why star formation eventually ceases.
Designed by art director Greg Breeding using imagery from NASA, ESA, CSA, and the PHANGS team, the stamp will be issued in a pane of four and denominated at the Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope rate.
