The U.S. Postal Service brings back a beloved favorite with the reissue of the Mister Rogers stamp, originally introduced in 2018. Fred Rogers (1928 - 2003) remains one of America's most treasured television figures, remembered for his kindness, sincerity, and dedication to helping children understand themselves and the world around them. Through his groundbreaking program, *Mister Rogers' Neighborhood*, he created a welcoming space where young viewers could learn about emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges with honesty and compassion.
At the beginning of each episode, Rogers welcomed audiences with his familiar song, Won't You Be My Neighbor as he changed into his signature cardigan and sneakers. His gentle conversations addressed the experiences children encounter while growing up, including friendship, sharing, imagination, and self-confidence, while also offering thoughtful guidance on more difficult topics such as fear, anger, loss, and family changes.
Produced in Pittsburgh from 1968 through 2001 and broadcast nationwide on PBS, *Mister Rogers' Neighborhood* became a landmark in children's television. Rogers's calm presence, thoughtful messages, and genuine connection with viewers made him a trusted companion for generations of children and families.
Decades after the program's original broadcasts, Mister Rogers continues to inspire audiences with his message of kindness, acceptance, and understanding. His legacy lives on as a reminder of the importance of compassion and treating others with care.
The Mister Rogers stamps are issued as Forever stamps. These stamps will always maintain the same value as the current First-Class Mail one-ounce postage rate.
