Wedding Cake Stamp ?C 2014 (Two-Ounce Rate)
The 2014 stamp covered the two-ounce rate, commonly used for wedding invitations and oversized cards. This stamp follows the first Wedding Cake stamp issued in 2009.
Over a quarter of wedding expenses go toward catering??hors d??oeuvres, buffets, dinners, and desserts. Among these, the wedding cake is often one of the most significant tasks for caterers, yet surprisingly remains a relatively small expense in what can be an otherwise costly event.
The cost of the cake, topper, and cutting fees usually totals under $600. The average price per slice is comparable to that of restaurant desserts. However, elaborate recipes and intricate decorations can easily stretch even the smallest wedding cake budget.
Regardless of cost, the wedding cake remains a central element of the celebration on a couple's big day.
The wedding cake featured on this stamp was created and designed by pastry chef Peter Brett, with the photograph captured by Ren??e Comet.
