U.S. Navy 250th Anniversary Stamp
In 2025, the U.S. Postal Service commemorates 250 years of the U.S. Navy a force that began during the Revolutionary War and has since grown into a global maritime leader, protecting U.S. interests and promoting freedom of the seas.
The stamp showcases the U.S. Navy emblem on a clean white background, with NAVY in red above it. Below the emblem, the text reads 250 YEARS OF SERVICE in red, SINCE 1775 in blue, and FOREVER/USA in gray. The pane's header reads:CELEBRATING 250 YEARS OF THE U.S. NAVY.
From Revolution to Global Power
On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the first ships of the Continental Navy marking the official birth of the U.S. Navy. Though disbanded after the Revolutionary War, it was reestablished in 1794 to protect American commerce, and formally institutionalized with the creation of the Department of the Navy in 1798.
Today's Navy includes over 330,000 active-duty personnel and more than 56,000 reservists. Guided by the core values of honor, courage, and commitment, the Navy ensures security at sea, provides humanitarian relief, and remains prepared for any global mission.
Designed by Antonio Alcal, the U.S. Navy 250th Anniversary stamp is a Forever stamp, always valid for the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.
