U.S. Army 250th Anniversary Stamp
In 2025, the U.S. Postal Service honors the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army a tribute to its enduring service since its formation in 1775 during the Revolutionary War. Established even before the founding of the nation, the Army has long stood as America's first national institution.
The stamp design features the U.S. Army Symbol on a white background, framed by the words UNITED STATES and ARMY,with 250 YEARS OF SERVICE and SINCE 1775 below. A bold ARMY appears at the top, symbolizing strength, legacy, and commitment.
A Legacy of Service
The Army was born out of the colonies need for a unified force during the struggle for independence. On June 14, 1775, the Continental Army was established, and George Washington was named commander in chief just days later.
Today, the Army includes over 450,000 active-duty soldiers, plus hundreds of thousands more in the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and civilian workforce. Guided by its timeless motto, This We'll Defend,the Army continues to uphold its core values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Designed by Antonio Alcal, the U.S. Army 250th stamp is issued as a Forever stamp, always valid for First-Class Mail at the current one-ounce rate.
