Wooden led the UCLA Bruins to 10 NCAA men??s basketball national championships, including an unprecedented seven consecutive titles. He was awarded the Henry Iba Award seven times as the national coach of the year for his exceptional ability to inspire and develop his players.
Before his coaching career, Wooden was an outstanding basketball player. In high school, he guided his team to a state tournament victory in 1927 and was a three-time All-State selection. At Purdue University, Wooden??s talents earned him All-Big Ten, All-Midwestern honors, and the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1932. After college, he played professionally and taught high school English before transitioning to coaching at both the high school and collegiate levels.
